How to Achieve These Goals
For most of us, New Year resolutions are made and quickly forgotten. Here are some great tips in helping you keep those goals:
MAKE REALISTIC GOALS
Instead of trying to lose 60 pounds start at a more realistic weight number, like 10. If you reach that goal then aim higher. But stay committed to a healthy exercise and eating routine that suits you.
MAKE YOUR RESOLUTION SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT
Don’t make it a resolution that you “should” want or what other people tell you to want. It has to fit with your own values.
To be effective, resolutions need to be specific. So instead of saying “I am going to exercise more”, create a workout plan, for example: “I am going to exercise every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:30 pm.”
BE PREPARED TO MAKE SOME CHANGES
Being mentally prepared to make certain changes in your life that can be challenging i.e. quitting smoking or losing weight, can make your resolution process much easier
Having someone hold you accountable to your goals can really help you achieve them. Loved ones can become your cheerleader or coach.
If you fall off the wagon, don’t give up! Many people believe if they stumble, they should give up all together. So forgive yourself and keep going!
